Upcoming Harry Potter RPG Leaked Via Captured Footage?

Well, this was unexpected but a Reddit user by the name of VapeThisBro has leaked a trailer of what seems to be a new Harry Potter roleplaying game currently in development; the details about the game are as follows:

“Set in the 19th Century (1800’s) Wizarding World, this 3rd person open-world action RPG game centers around your character with unique abilities who has eared a late acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You are a newly arrived 5th year student to Hogwarts that demonstrates a latent gift for magic with a unique ability to track and identify remnants of a potent ancient power.

Upon arrival, strange events begin to materialize In the Forbidden Forrest and trouble begins to brew within the castle walls. Together with Professor Elezar Fig, you embark on a journey through both familiar and never before seen locations to bring to light the truth behind these mysterious occurrences.

On your quest you will craft potions, master new spells, and discover fantastical beasts. You will battle Dark Wizards, Goblins, and other supernatural enemies and uncover the truth about your destiny – the Fate of the Wizarding World lies in your hands.”

No indication on what the title will be, the target platforms or who the developer is (it’s speculated to be Rocksteady, of Batman Arkham fame) but as the media publishing rights to Harry Potter are owned by Warner Bros, it’s a given that they’re the publisher (which also fuels the Rocksteady rumors).

From the trailer, it looks to be the most ambitious HP game to date. Considering this is likely a big budget title, built from the ground up and not restricted by the movies, hopefully it turns out to be great – especially since the Harry Potter games released after 2004’s Prisoner Of Azkaban (for PC/PS2/GC/XB) have been tapering off in terms of quality.
