To all foreign readers, this headline will probably be an immediate shocker. But for us Indians, it is a blessing. With all the import duties and taxes the government applies, there is a huge price bump in electronic goods that are imported to the country. So this comes as good news to all potential buyers of the latest cards by Nvidia. In India, the prices for the latest RTX cards have dropped dramatically coming close to the INR 10,000 mark; at least as far as mainstream GPUs go.
As you can see below, the RTX 3080 has gone down from 71k (954$) to 62k (832$) while RTX 3070 also saw a price drop to 44.5k (597$) from 51k. Both are extremely significant.

Nobody is sure why this happened. Our best and most realistic guess would be that AMD’s RX6000 series GPUs made a wave in that market that Nvidia simply couldn’t ignore. With the rampant scalping that has plagued Nvidia GPUs, this price drop is sure to create some kind of drama in the market. That will be along with the buyer’s remorse that most early adopters might be feeling right now, especially in India.
This might also be a result of many customers in India skipping retailers and directly buying off of distributors because as many of you might guess, the retailers also have jacked up the price to astronomical levels as you will see below. Good news aside, the stocks still aren’t here.
