First released on the 3DS, Generations Ultimate is, as the “Ultimate” subtitle suggests, an enhanced port of the 2016 3DS entry and the definitive way to experience the game. Though MHGU has been out for a year now in Japan (on both 3DS and Switch), it will be releasing worldwide soon on Switch – August 28, 2018 to be precise.
The game boasts visual improvements over the 3DS version, with sharper image quality, running at a crisp 1080p when docked (native 720p when portable) and at 30 FPS (a necessary restriction inorder to support crossplay with the 3DS version). The 3DS version however, will unfortunately not be localized.
Content wise, it will of course come with everything the 3DS version offers and additional goodies of it’s own, like 20 new monsters, 14 new Arts, the return of G-ranks, and so on. Those of you who enjoyed the latest entry in the series, Monster Hunter World (on PS4/XB1/PC) and own a Switch should definitely give this one a shot.
