With the advent of the Steam sales and their exciting discounts, it can often be hard to select games for purchase. So we’ve derived a host of articles, each a list of 5 games from a specific genre consisting of games we consider must-buys. In this article, we list down some good cheap Open World games that you can pick up. (Just to be clear, we did not include RPGs):
5. Batman: Arkham City Game of The Year Edition: INR 141
Having a game about the world’s most popular superhero made sense on this list. With arguably the best story in the Arkham franchise, Arkham City’s flowing combat and open world will keep you engaged for a while. The graphics still hold up pretty well for a 7 year old game.
4. Mad Max: INR 247
Mad Max is considered by many as an underappreciated (Critically) game of the gen. It’s release date wasn’t the wisest of moves on the publisher’s part with metal Gear Solid 5 releasing on the same day. But overall, it’s a solid mish mash of some Arkham style gameplay and interesting vehicular combat. If you are a fan of the movie, then there is another reason to own the game.
3. Just Cause 2/Just Cause 3 XL: INR 95/ 145
Just Cause is a no brainer in this category really. It is wildly fun in terms of destruction and traversal, although drops the punchy impact with the weapons. Just Cause 2 is the better option if you have a potato though. In terms of gameplay, Just Cause’s main theme is about being a “destruction sandbox” which Just Cause 3 wins by quite a margin over it’s predecessor and the traversal can become a bit tedious in JC2 once the wingsuit grows on you (All personal opinion). If you have a decent PC, then get JC3. There is always the refund button if the performance is not up to the mark.
2. Sleeping Dogs- Definitive Edition: INR 109
Sleeping Dogs has been popularized as GTA with Kung Fu and while that is true, it is still a great game worth getting into. It is one of the few games that tells a good personal tale intertwined with an overarching plot and some good brawler mechanics. A good pickup for anyone who is burnt out of the GTA formula.
1. Saints Row 4- Game Of The Century Edition: INR 141
What better game to top it off than a franchise that actually started off as a GTA “clone”. As sequels of the franchise have released, Saints Row has become it’s own game with over the top action and goofy, larger than life characters, leaning more towards being super heroes. It is a quite entertaining 15-20 hour run and for the little that the player pays, there is a lot of fun to be had.
